Established
in early part of the 20th Century, the British Club in Bangkok is a private Sports and
Leisure Club with a compound toward the river end of Silom Road. Associated with the club
are numerous sports sections. One of the more high profile sections is the Football
Section. Made up of approximately 40 members, predominantly also Club members, the
Football section runs two sides. Players come form a wide range of professional
backgrounds including banking and finance, civil engineering and construction and the oil
and gas business. We embrace a wide range of age and experience and skill and actively
encourage participation in our many social events. A Casuals side lays predominantly on
the weekend and plays all year round. This side is more focus on social football,
predominantly made up of older members who no longer want the aggro of a highly
competitive league but who still want to keep fit, and also new comers who want to get to
know the Section members. These lads will play all year round and represent the grass root
s support of the Section. In addition we also run a First XI that players in the Bangkok
International Football League (formerly the Farang League). This team plays at a higher
standard against teams form the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, The German All-stars, the
Scandinavian Vikings and the French to name but a few. Sponsorship for both teams and our
many tours is generously provided by the Londoner Brew Pub on Soi 33, Sukhumvit Road,
Bangkok.. We are delighted to be able to participate in this year's Phuket tournament and
hope that we may add it to our list of return venues along with Manila. We are joined by
our friends and sometime close rivals from the Bull's Head Brazilians. This team is also
one of the dominating forces in the Bangkok football scene and we are very please to be
able to combine our groups for this adventure. |
