P & C Jewelry is situated just off the Beach Road in Patong next to the Ocean Department Store. The proprietor is Khun Chuchai Jatupitponchan who is part of a family jewelry business dating back 33 years.

P & C Jewelry is a small shop filled with treasures. The market is clearly a Western clientele who prefer more simple, larger stones in distinctive settings.

"I have learned over the years what my customers want," explained Khun Chuchai, "at P & C Jewelry, people are dealing directly with the owner. Our overhead is lower and our experience at buying gems at the most reasonable prices directly from the wholesaler are passed on to our customers."

Khun Chuchai has built a successful business based on the three principles used in Thai commerce; the customer must like the product, the price and the salesperson.

"Ninety per cent of my customers return for a second purchase. That should say something about their level of satisfaction," he smiles.

P & C Jewelry has 18 and 24 carat gold for those who like authentic Thai necklaces and bracelets and large pearls for collectors. Khun Chuchai has personally chosen gems from the factory based on his criteria for luster, shape, color and surface quality. Then he has the stones set in rings that he has designed to suit his market.

Wang Talang has an enormous showroom of treasures at the main intersection where the Airport Bypass Road meets the Phuket to Patong thoroughfare. The Thai Naan restaurant sits across the street.
