Wayne Jenkinson was a founding partner of the Hideaway Spa in Patong
over ten years ago. Now he has returned to expand the successful
health and beauty complex by opening another center near the entrance
to Laguna Phuket.
I spend much of the year travelling between Florida, Australia
and Thailand and I understand that the international guests to Phuket
would benefit from the total relaxation a spa can offer," explained
Wayne. "Most people that live in cities lead stressful lives. At
the Hideaway Spa, they can leave this all behind.
"Wayne's new Hideaway Spa offers half day and full day therapy
and relaxation programs. He has built a number of outdoor salas
or open air therapy rooms complete with their own private shower
and changing rooms.
"Our half day program is around three and a half hours. A guest
spends the first hour alternating between the herbal steam room
and dip pool. Then they are ready for a two hour massage of which
half an hour is spent on cleaning, toning and moisturizing the face,"
continued Wayne.
The Hideaway Spas use essential oils and aromatic scents that have
been developed in Thailand. The principal ingredient is prai, a
variety of ginger.
Traditional cultures of Asia used herbs to alleviate sickness and
strengthen the body. This was done by inhaling certain oils that
were steamed allowing the vapors to pass into the blood stream.
At the Hideaway Spa, these essential oils are part of the herbal
steam, and customers benefit from repeated visits in between refreshing
dips in the splash pool. Wayne has carefully chosen his massage
therapists primarily from women who have trained in the northern
Thai school of massage where the focus is on moving energy around
the body rather than making sudden jerks of the limbs or neck.
"We've built this Hideaway Spa around the local lagoons and chosen
music, furniture and therapies that are guaranteed to give our guests
the most relaxing experience they can have while visiting Phuket,"
finished Wayne.
