Phuket spas: The Chedi

 Phuket Spa and Thai Massage

In March of this year, The Chedi joined the growing list of Phuket resorts to add their own top-class Phuket spa. Mr Andre Kretschmann, the Hotel General Manager, said "there is not a day when we don't look for a way to make a stay at The Chedi more comfortable, unique or more of a wonderful experience".

The Spa currently comprises four treatment rooms, all beautifully designed with an exquisite use of marble, polished native woods and authentic Thai textiles complementing the elegance of the whole resort.

The personal touch is a mark of the resort and from the moment you are greeted by Khun Paramee Wongprasert (Khun Bee), the Spa Manager, on your arrival to stepping into one of the four treatment rooms, you are treated as a revered guest.

Two rooms are for a single person taking a treatment but the other two include two beds and are perfect for couples taking a private treatment together. "The double rooms are very popular with the guests, and often encourage the husband or boyfriend to try a treatment at the same time", says Khun Bee.

The Chedi has designed five different therapeutic massages all very reasonably priced starting from 900++ baht. Try the herbal massage - a truly relaxing massage where fragrant herbs of chamomile, nettles and ginger are applied with hot, wet towels to soothe even the most tense of muscles, or the Swedish massage - a classic full-body massage that invigorates the body and reduces tension at the same time.

There are also three body scrubs, guaranteed to leave your skin feeling fresh and vibrant. And the Special Thai Foot Care is the ultimate in foot pampering - no visit would be complete without this treatment.

But perhaps the ultimate in pampering is to try one of the two Spa packages. The Exotic Spa package lasts two hours and begins with a floral foot bath, followed by your choice of invigorating body scrubs. Then relax in the out door floral plunge pool while enjoying ginger tea and cookies before you finish your spa experience with a massage using one of the Four-Elements oils.

The Spa has recruited some of the most experienced and skilled spa therapists in Thailand, three females and one male to carry out all these wonderful treatments and to maintain the high standards set at The Chedi. "We have many return guests each year and we want to provide them with the most rejuvenating and nurturing spa experience right on our own property" commented Mr Kretschmann.

The aromatherapy oils used in the treatments are exclusive to The Spa and are specially created using combinations of essential and herbal oils such as tangerine, nutmeg and prai, a Thai ginger to create the Four Elements Earth, Water, Wind and Fire. The initial selection of the oil for your massage is matched to your individual birth element. These products are available in the hotel gift shop so that once you know which best suits your body's balance of elements you can take your favourite one back home with you. Opening hours are from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Reservations are required at least one day in advance for non-residents of the hotel.
