There's a great new attraction on Phuket, the Patong Paddle Club.
Located at the very south end of Patong Beach under the bridge,
visitors to the island can now explore the mangrove swamps which
run deep into the island. For small fee, a customer can experience
the fun and excitement of kayaking in the island's warm tropical
waters. It's a great alternative to paying for an expensive day
trip sea kayaking in Phang Nga Bay.

Patong Paddle Club uses unsinkable sea canoes which are perfect
for one to three people. Upon arrival at the Paddle Club, an introduction
on how to use the sea kayak is given before the customer is handed
a life jacket and shown how to sit and maneuver the floating kayak.
Kayak trips can be taken alone, with a friend or accompanied by
a guide.
"We want to share the beauty and quiet of a mangrove swamp
with visitors to the island. The mangrove swamp is the most important
ecosystem on the island full of flying fish and crabs," explained
Khun Arunee Tesvanich, general manager of the Patong Paddle Club.
"This is the perfect activity during the monsoon season when
the beach is not safe and visitors are looking for something interesting
to do."
The Patong Paddle Club offers three different sizes of kayaks,
the Malibu Two, Zest Two and Frenzy. These kayaks are safe in any
water but especially in the canal, Pak Bang, which is only 1.5 meters
deep.
A tour with Patong Paddle Club lasts about an hour with a trip
up the one kilometer canal and then back down and a short excursion
out to the Andaman Sea. By then the guest is ready for the complimentary
Thai snack and soft drink which awaits on shore.
